Donate in Honor of Someone Touched by Cancer
This October marks a milestone for me and my family to celebrate life and 30 years since a diagnosis of ovarian cancer. I am very fortunate and one of the lucky ones. I have since been blessed with good health and by the "gems" that carried me through a very difficult time - God, family, pastors, my congregation, neighbors, and friends. They helped me heal not only physically, but also mentally and emotionally. Now, 30 years later, I feel compelled to make a positive difference and provide hope to others who have been touched by cancer - patients, survivors, families, friends, caregivers, and the dear angels who left us all too soon.
I do not want this to be about me, but about all of us, for this is a battle that has and continues to impact far too many. The Tour de Gem cycling event is a journey with peaks and valleys, symbolic of the journey cancer patients and their families must ride. Secondly, they allowed me to choose which charitable organization to support, and my choice was the Kettering Cancer Center. Read below to see why I chose Kettering Cancer Care and how they are making a difference to so many in need.
My Invitation: Click 'Donate Now' & Help Me Put the Brakes on Cancer
I invite you to join me in this cause by donating in honor of someone touched by cancer, so as a community we can make a positive difference. As the Team Captain, my goal is for our team to raise a minimum of $5,000 for the Kettering Cancer Center. However, I know that if we spread the word, there is no limit!
Thank you in advance for your time and generosity. Working together, we will make a positive impact on the lives of patients and their families!
Why I Chose Kettering Cancer Center & Kettering Medical Center Foundation?
After prayerful consideration, I chose the Kettering Medical Center Foundation & Kettering Cancer Center for two key reasons. First, in 1989 my cancer journey started at Kettering Memorial Hospital during a routine test. Secondly, I wanted a local organization that focuses not only on cancer research and education, but also on holistic care, compassion, and support for the patient and their caregivers. That is the very purpose of Kettering Medical Center Foundation – they support the people, places, and programs of Kettering Cancer Center including integrative medicine and caregiver support.
I feel so blessed that Kettering Medical Center Foundation has partnered with me in this important cause. At the Kettering Cancer Center, they believe you are more than your diagnosis. That’s why they reach beyond treatment to provide healing for the whole person being mind, body, and spirit. Incorporating Integrative Medicine with their other treatment protocols has enabled patients to bounce back in helping reduce their fatigue, anxiety, depression, and pain, ultimately preparing them to heal quicker into remission. They also partner with passionate community members to support caregivers through continuing education, buying lifesaving equipment, and funding programs for their patients and assisting clients who are underinsured or uninsured.
