I'd rather walk and eat cupcakes...
than ride a bike but for my community that is is exactly what I plan to do.
Last year, myself and about 20 other people formed the Sankofa Giving Circle, a giving circle of the Wesley Center, to raise money to improve the economic, social and physical conditions of Westwood neighborhood where Wesley Center is located. The Center works with over 7,000 people a year in need of employment, afterschool services and food. The financial and volunteer support provided to the Center helps advance its work to revitalize the neighborhood.
In one year, the Circle has hosted a community clean up, partnered with Westwood Elementary School to launch a weekly volunteer program at Westwood School, invested funds and volunteer time in four youth businesses this summer and supported Wesley Center afterschool program.
Every dollar I raise will allow Sankofa to continue its support of the Westwood neighborhood. I am dedicated to seeing the community I grew up in be revitlized. Will you join me with a gift of $10 or more?
